Each year at the faculty convocation, Pastor Koeneke reads a children's book that he has selected during his summer travels to evoke a message about the year of education ahead of us. This year's selection was the The Fantastic Flying Books of Morris Lessmore by William Joyce. It is a story about stories -- the power of narrative to uplift and heal and how our own story becomes the next chapter in the ongoing story of life. As our metaphorical house is turned upside down in our studies in Humanities I in Action, I hope that we find stories to enact that keep our civilization flying.
